Margaret Paul
7th Dan, Kyoshi, Beikoku Shidokan Karatedo Association
Background
Sensei Margaret began karate training in Shidokan karate in March, 1993. She and Sensei Roy have trained and travelled internationally with Seikichi Iha, Hanshi.
Occupation
Sensei Margaret is retired, after a successful career as an independent computer programming consultant.
Why I Started
I was an avid baseball player and as it was winter, I thought this would be a good way to get in shape for baseball. Also, my son was training at Sensei Roy’s dojo and it was a great mother/son bonding time. Unfortunately, my son did not continue his training but my interests turned to the Sensei and I was happy to continue!
Why I Like Shidokan
The focus in Shidokan is on your individual training and advancement is made at your own pace. Iha Sensei’s philosophy of friendship is evident in all the instructors I have had the privilege to train with. Everyone is encouraging and you feel like you are part of a family of friends.
What I Enjoy About Teaching
I like encouraging students to be the best they can be.
Other Interests
Working part-time at Royal City Nursery garden centre.
